Concept : Women empower Women
Project Brief: To design a Magazine layout on any desired topic/theme.
Overview: I chose the topic : Women Empowerment with a fresh perspective. Hence, the Title - ‘Women Empower Women'.
Among the various relatable topics existing around us, Gender bias, discrimination or preferential treatment, this topic has been a constant burning issue. Thus, I wanted to collect opinions of other people on the same and observe what are the factors less likely discussed.
Expressive Typography
The ‘WOMEN’ word has been expressively designed in the form of jis -saw puzzle pieces as such to serve the purpose of showing the union of women.
I wanted it to resemble the community of women from different backgrounds, ethnicities and experiences coming together as a whole.
Hence, the resemblence to puzzle pieces as well as in a curve-edged, bold condensed style to highlight the versatile feminine energy as well as the cohesiveness.
Color Palette
The color palette ranges from warm to dark cool colors. I chose to begin with warm colors to bring up the warmth in the concept. The contrast within the color palette highlights the contrast among the different ethinicities, backgrounds of different women.
Typeface
The use of a sleek edge-cut sans-serif typeface adds to the ‘modern problems require modern
solutions’ phrase. The clean sans-serif font serves the purpose to plant a seed of change
in the young minds.
Illustration
Final Layout
One of the major challenges in this project was to create an expressive Typography in the form of an illustration that can individually stand as the cover of the magazine.
PREVIOUS
This project was interesting to conceptualize around a sensitive issue and make the Young audience interested to be able to relate and empathize with the issue.
